Tips For Getting A Facial After Getting Botox

by Ellen Lucas

For many people, getting botox is just another part of their beauty process. Botox involves injecting a serum into the skin that is designed to eliminate any noticeable wrinkles or sagging. The procedure works best when you give yourself some time to rest before getting another beauty procedure. This can make it difficult to indulge in your favorite facials or other skin care routines following botox. However, this does not have to be difficult. Luckily, there are a few tips that you can use to when getting a facial after your botox procedure.

Wait a Few Days Before Getting a Facial

Immediately after getting botox, your doctor will recommend that you avoid touching or aggravating the area that contains the botox. While a facial can actually be soothing and relaxing, it is also irritating to your injection sites. In order to avoid this, you should hold off any facials for at least the first few days following your botox procedure. This will give the botox enough time to set into your skin.

Consider the Type of Facial You Want to Have Done

Just like a full body massage, there are different levels to facials. Some facials may be more superficial and others are deeper. More intensive and deeper facials can result in bruising if they are performed too soon after receiving botox. Bruising can take some time to get rid of and is often frustrating to deal with. Therefore, before getting a facial, consider getting one that is much more superficial and will not aggravate your botox.

Prepare for Inflammation

You will most likely experience slight inflammation if you do decide to a get a facial not too long after getting botox. This inflammation may include swelling and redness. The best way to prepare for this is by using a cold pack to quickly diffuse any kind of inflammation. This can be done from home by including a handful of ice cubes in a plastic bag. Wrap the bag in a clean cloth and hold it against your skin. Repeat this process throughout the day in order to keep your inflammation as minimal as possible.

Just like botox, a facial is often a good way to help rejuvenate and freshen up your skin. However, it is important to take precautions to avoid bruising or inflammation. Therefore, use these tips to make getting a facial after botox as easy as possible.
